Your trip will start on the beautiful Greek island of Naxos, walking along ancient trails, through quaint villages, past Venetian towers, olive groves and incredible landscapes. You will also have the chance to climb Mount Zas, which is the highest peak of the Cyclades. Steeped in history and myth, your time on this fascinating island will make you fall in love with Greek hospitality and culture.

Heading over to Santorini by ferry, you will get your first glimpse of this postcard island. Known for its whitewashed buildings and blue domed churches, this stunning island draws you in from the start. Immerse yourself in the dramatic cliffs and admire the stunning views of the caldera, walk on ancient trails, through hidden villages and past the famous Santorini vineyards.

Typical Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Travel to Naxos

    Arrive into Naxos by air or ferry. A transfer will be organised to take you to your accommodation upon arrival.

  2. Day 2: Circular walk around traditional Naxos villages

    Starting from the beautiful village of Apiranthos, you will have the chance to explore the Venetian towers before taking the trail to the summit of Mount Fanari. Continuing to Moni, you might wish to stop for a drink or a bite to eat. Taking the Byzantine path, dotted with Byzantine chuches, towards Chalki, finish your day with a visit to a local distillery to taste the local liquers and raki.

  3. Day 3: Walk to the summit of Mount Zas

    Your walk will start from the village of Filoti. With stunning panoramic views of the surrounding land and deep blue Aegean sea, walk to the highest peak of the Cyclades, Mount Zas. We suggest stopping en route at the famous water source of Argion, and explore the biggest cave of the island which houses impressive stalagmite structures. Continue on downhill paths which will take you back to Filoti.

  4. Day 4: Walking through verdant villages with springs

    Take the short path towards the Byzantine church of Agios Mamas, walking towards the rustic verdant villages of Potamia. You have the chance to explore the old aqueduct of Ferio, the abandoned ancient Kouroi (male statues) and the ancient marble quarries. This is also an ideal place to stop for a rest and a snack.

  5. Day 5: Rest day

    Today is left free for your to enjoy at your leisure or, if you'd prefer, take a coastal walk through the juniper forest of Alykto towards the bay of Plaka.

  6. Day 6: Ancient Emery Path to a remote beach

    Starting in the remote village of Koronos, where local people used to settled to work in the emery mines, your path will lead to the beautiful beach of Lionas with it's multi-coloured pebbles.

    Walking distance: 8 km

  7. Day 7: Walk along the riverbank

    Today's walk will start at the village of Kinidaros. After exploring the village, take a dirt road that zig-zags downhill, where you will see an impressive stone bridge and ruined watermills. Walk along the water channel before you reach the village of Eggares and visit a renovated traditional olive mill before returning back to your hotel.

    If you want to extend today's walk, you can explore the valley of orange orchards until you reach the beach of Ammitis.

  8. Day 8: Ferry to Santorini & scenic path along caldera

    This morning take the ferry to Santorini (the crossing takes approximately two hours). This afternoon, follow a scenic path along the rim of the caldera towards the picureaque villages of Firostefani and Imerovigli until you reach Oia in time to watch famous Santorini sunset.

    Walking distance: 11 km

  9. Day 9: Profitis Ilias, Ancient Thera & Perissa beach

    You will start today's walk from the beautiful village of Emborio, once a fortified Venetian castle settlement. Reach the summit of Profitis Ilias, the highest point of the island and which offers stunning views, before descending down a mountainous path towards Ancient Thera.

    Take some time to explore the excavations of remnant houses, market, theatre, Roman baths, cisterns and a holy road dating back to the 9th century AD. Finish with a short descent to the black beach of Perissa.

    Walking distance: 9 km

  10. Day 10: Walk through hidden villages

    Starting from the Cycladic village of Pyrgos, wander through narrow alleys and explore its ruined Kasteli (castle). The old paths will lead you to the farming villages of Exo and Mesa Gonia. During your walk, you may wish to visit one or two of the acclaimed wineries of the island.

  11. Day 11: Rest day

    Today is left free for your to enjoy at your leisure. An optional day trip is available to the Volcano and hot springs (bookable locally), or you may choose to walk along the caldera cliffs to Akrotiri and the red beach.

  12. Day 12: Fly back to the UK

    You will be transfered to Santorini airport in time for your flight back to the UK.
