"Walking in remote forests of Finland - complete peace and quiet, led by Kimmo our excellent and very knowledgeable guide who went out of his way to ensure we all enjoyed our holiday. Staying in simple but very comfortable accommodation in remote areas, enjoying nature and the Finnish tradition of sauna and lake swimming." Karen Dawkins, Forests of the Midnight Sun
On our winter treks you will of course be walking over snow-covered ground and frozen lakes. The terrain is flat and undulating with no steep hills. In summer the terrain is similar, and conditions underfoot are usually good as you?ll be following decent trails, but at times you will journey through marshy and swampy areas. Accommodation includes log cabins and renovated guard stations, often with shared facilities.
The best time of year to visit Finland for a winter walking holiday is December to February, with January and February offering more daylight than the earlier winter months. In summer, the best time to visit is from July to September, when temperatures are warm, flowers are blooming and animals have come out of hibernation.
